讓我們把英語教學的希望放在外師身上吧!!

FACTS:

ASSUMPTIONS:

  1. 本校學生進步的原因是因為有外師來上課
  2. 引進外師參與培訓學生,這樣學生的比賽成績會更好

QUESTIONS:

  1. 學生成績變好為何會是因為一學期來不到10次的外師的功勞?
  2. 外師的時間本校亦無權要求,所以外師如何參與培訓學生?
  3. Why do English teachers with some common senses don’t bloody challenge these repeating stupid unprofessional assumptions?

  1. Dear Annie, Calm down..We Chinese had long lost our self-confidence way back in the late 19th century. So, it\’s soooo commom to kneel down before a peron with non-black eyes and different colors. That allows the so-called foreigners the opportunities to take advantage of us; most of the eastern people simply worship the so-called western people. That remains the same even after the fact was revealed that many such foreign techers were unqualified or even criminals. This way of thinking or believing in the common forges so strong power that even the English teachers with some common senses cannot ignore. Who would want to be under the spotlight and challenged by such a big crowd, society or country even? Besides, currently, they are just too occupied to sound out. But, all in all, I am with you. You are right about every word. To deal with the problem or to change the tide requires changes from oursleves within. Love your courage though. Muriel

  2. I hate to be the only one who object their stupid unprofessional ORDERS. I hate to be the only one who foresee the outcomes. I hate what I saw and honestly I could have just play dumb and don\’t say a word like others. It is such a sad case that leaders in this field are generally incapable of critical thinking, or, they simply don\’t give a damn.

  3. Hehehe..You sound very frustrated. Think about the happy things to alleviate your distress first like your wedding to come. What you mentioned is mainly the bureaucratic system in Taiwan, which exists in every walks of our society and seems hopeless. From my point of view, there are two ways to change the tide under the condition that you don\’t quit. That is, either you yourself become a administrative leader to implement your ideals or gather the others to push the reform of our system in education. Both are not easy because they involve changing the old habits and breaking the powerful symbiotic interest groups. In your situation, I don\’t know if you can exclude yourself from the project or not but you can also find ways to prove them wrong. It is just that it will drain your energy completely. Hei..apart from this dreadful thing, how are you personally? Fancy a chance to chat? In any case, wish you the best.
