地圖反映…事實?還是…”其他”?

The main entrance hall to my campus has something new this semester. A concise giant world map was hung on the wall. A list of English/Chinese names of major countries is stated at the bottom part. Funny mistakes like "Ltaly", "New Xeallnd", "Mid America" were printed in block letters.
I raised the problems to the dean and he politely ask me to write a list of correct answers. So I did.
His later response is somehow very….inappropriate as an educator.
He actually said " Why do you have to look into it so closely? 你為什麼要看那麼仔細呀?"

So I didn’t even bother to raise the question of "How exactly China and Taiwan share the same color in the map?" Or maybe I should have?

A map can be a reflection of reality, or, something else. Indifference of how a map present one’s country is not only wrong but pathetic.
