Whew!!!! THAT WAS CLOSE!

言歸正傳,這學期我嘗試了很多new idea, one of them is ….ACTING OUT.

It’s actually more like the so-called RT, which I later learned. Since our time is always limited, I think it’s better to ask them to read instead of memorizing scripts. After numberous experience of doing play with kids, I learned 2 golden rules.

One small goal a time.
Interrupt then continue.

First set ur goals for the play, better be brief and fun. U don’t always have to create your own. Inventing something from nothing is great, but not necessarily fit the demand of time and students’ level. Take my 4th graders for instance, one of the jazz chant in their text book goes like this…

The rain, the rain, the sky is gray. Let’s play a game.
The rain, the rain, the sky is gray. let’s paint.
The sun, the sun, let’s play a game, let’s play a game.
So I add in another three lines.
The sun, the sun,
Let’s do homework!
Oh, no!!!
Kids had a great time reading this, coz they can relate the chant with their life. Plus it brings more color and laughter into the classroom.
Then I asked them to act out as a group.
